Tess Crowley is a photojournalist based in the metro Detroit area. Tess was the 2023 summer visuals intern at The Virginian-Pilot and was the 2022 Managing Photo Editor at The Michigan Daily. She was selected as a member of the 2022 SPJ Student Leadership Institute cohort made up of a group of 23 student leaders in newsrooms across the country.

Tess is an NPPA, MPPA (Michigan Press Photographer’s Association) and University Photographer’s Association member. She has signed the Photo Bill of Rights.

Along with her studies in Communication and Media at the University of Michigan (c/o 2024), Tess is pursuing a minor in Spanish. Tess grew up in Northern Michigan surrounded by Lake Michigan; she loves to spend time outdoors hiking and backpacking with friends and family.
