Tess Crowley is the current Chicago Tribune photo intern. Tess was the 2023 summer visuals intern at The Virginian-Pilot and was the 2022 Managing Photo Editor at The Michigan Daily. She was selected as a member of the 2022 SPJ Student Leadership Institute cohort made up of a group of 23 student leaders in newsrooms across the country.

Tess is an NPPA, MPPA (Michigan Press Photographer’s Association) member. She won 2023 MPPA College Photographer of the Year. She has signed the Photo Bill of Rights.

Tess graduated from the University of Michigan in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media and a minor in Spanish, Language, Literature, and Culture. Tess grew up in Northern Michigan surrounded by Lake Michigan; she loves to spend time outdoors hiking, skiing and backpacking with friends and family.
